Peter Hinkson - Client Director

In the course of a career spanning twenty five years in Human Resource management Peter has worked in a variety of industries including Retailing, Commercial Banking, Healthcare and Electronics. His international experience includes having been based in Brussels for five years as Director, Human Resources for the European division of a global Orthopaedic Implant manufacturer.

In a similar role for the Electronics division of Cookson Group plc, Peter was responsible for creating a business partnership with the European General Managers of the different operating companies and the development of global HR programmes promoting organisational effectiveness. In this role Peter was appointed as a management representative for the division on the board of Pension Scheme Trustees. He had also represented Zimmer on the board of trustees for the UK pension scheme of Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Peter’s first venture into consulting enabled him to work with Amgen Inc, a California based biotechnology company. He has since been able to provide strategic guidance and operational support to a wide variety of businesses in engineering, manufacturing, business and financial services, Logistics and home entertainment in addition to projects for smaller businesses. Working with both local business owners and European Managing Directors he has helped to resolve individual employee relations issues, develop the organisation’s HR strategy, managed restructuring and redundancy programmes and strengthened the leadership team by recruiting new high calibre talent. This includes appointing operations directors with lean manufacturing experience in France and helping the Manufacturing Director he placed in Slovakia to build his new management team.  Peter also works closely with key executives in the business to provide executive coaching and individual performance planning. As a director of Progress HR his focus is on maximising the client’s return on its investment in people.
